Description

Krug Grande Cuvée was born from the dream of a man, Joseph Krug , to offer the best Champagne ever every year, regardless of climatic variations. Since 1843 , Maison Krug has honored this mission with each new edition of Krug Grande Cuvée: the highest expression of Champagne.

Elegant nose with intense notes of toasted bread , nougat , marzipan , hints of ripe and dried fruit (hazelnut, almonds), honey , sweet spices , vanilla , gingerbread. Sip with excellent structure , compact, well supported by a lively and soft acidity at the same time , long persistence .

Why you should drink it

Krug Grande Cuvée is recreated every year, going beyond the concept of vintage , always starting from a blend of over 120 wines from over 10 different vintages. Finesse and power , elegance and intensity , a perfect combination, the symbol of the artisan excellence of Casa Krug .

A wine that, needless to say, every lover of good wine must uncork!

When to uncork it

This Champagne lends itself to a multitude of culinary combinations , from the simplest to the most sophisticated, from aged Parmesan to turbot with truffles.

This wine can be chosen as an aperitif or in combination with oysters , grilled scampi , as well as desserts such as carrot cake , tarte tatin or cheese cake .

How to drink it

Strictly serve at 10°-12°C .

Vinification and Aging

Fermentation in oak barrels with storage of wines from previous years in steel containers, then refermentation in the bottle according to the Champenoise method . Aging of at least 82 months on the lees .

Territory

The Champagne wine region is what is called the "vineyard of hills" : the vines are mostly planted on the slopes of the hills.

The sides of the coteaux offer each vine an optimal exposure to the sun , allowing rainwater to run off, thus facilitating water drainage.

Soil

The composition of the soil is mainly made up of limestone , chalk and marl .

Gypsum has the property of retaining water by capillary action and its high porosity is a reservoir of water which gives the plant an adequate supply even during the driest summers.
