Description
Caranti di Cascina Garitina is a red wine from Monferrato , more precisely from Castel Boglione , in the province of Asti .
Castel Boglione is the beating heart of Barbera production and here, in fact, Cascina Garitina cultivates more than 20 hectares .
The aim of Gianluca Morino , current owner of the family business, is to preserve the most representative vine of the area, Barbera , by making a small revolution . An unconventional and progressive spirit that stems from the idea that Barbera should not only be the grape that our grandparents drank , but that it is also capable of rejuvenating , lightening up and being attractive even to today's young people .
Caranti is Cascina Garitina's Barbera d'Asti Superiore, a wine that tastes of ripe juicy fruit , balanced , with a little spice , but not too heavy , savory and with good acidity .
Why you should drink it
Caranti di Cascina Garitina is a Barbera produced respecting nature in the vineyard , able to bring the territory and the identity of the grape directly into the glass. A new way to taste Barbera , young and dynamic .
When to uncork it
Excellent to drink young , but it can give its best if required to settle for a period in the bottle . Perfect to accompany the great typical dishes of Piedmontese cuisine. Caranti di Cascina Garitina , agnolotti and let's fly !
How to drink it
As a good Barbera , drink it at a temperature of 16 ° -18 ° to enjoy all its aromas and flavors .
Vinification and Aging
After the harvest , carried out manually , the grapes are taken to the cellar , where a cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out for four days (suitable for the extraction of aromas ). After this first phase, the actual fermentation begins. The wine obtained is aged for several months , first in steel and then in wood , before being bottled without filtration .
Territory
We are located in Alto Monferrato , in Castel Boglione . Here Cascina Garitina owns about 26 hectares of vineyards located at an altitude ranging from 240 to 320 meters above sea level . One of the strong points of the area is the Mediterranean climate , mild even in winter.
Soil
Mainly clayey , with a small percentage of silt and sand .
