Description

The Unterhofer family has been involved in viticulture in South Tyrol, in Caldaro for generations.

With the commitment to give life to excellent wines even if they arise from vineyards on often very steep slopes, the importance of manual work and the quality of the grapes are fundamental.

The St. Magdalener DOC at sight shows an intense ruby red color, the nose smells of cherry, bitter almond and violet, while in the mouth it is savory and with a beautiful body immediately, soft and round instead in the aftertaste.

Why you should drink it

Because the ground in which life is based is a very difficult ground to work. Yet the Unterhofer family dedicates itself to it with care and commitment, managing to make up for nature and putting a noteworthy wine on the table!

When to uncork it

Family lunch? Dinner with friends? If you have been invited to one of these events, but you absolutely don't know what the menu includes, St. Magdalener is the wine for you! This red is a wine for the whole meal, from first to second courses, from game to fish.

How to drink it

To drink this wine at its best, it should be kept at 12 - 14 ° C, but St. Magdalener if drunk cooler on hot summer days, then
 We like it better!

Vinification and Aging

The harvest begins in October. This is followed by the vinification process by means of de-stemming of the grapes and fermentation of the must at a controlled temperature in steel tanks . Aging and malolactic fermentation take place in used wooden barriques .

Territory

The Unterhofer family is based in South Tyrol, in Caldaro.

Soil

S. Maddalena is a true master of adaptation. If cultivated in high altitude areas, it loves the soil composed of clayey morainic debris dating back to the last ice age; in the hills, on the other hand, it grows on a sandy river gravel soil of the interglacial period.
