At the end of the 90s the brothers Marilisa and Walter Allegrini, experienced producers of extraordinary Veneto wines , decided to throw themselves into the wake of the enological success obtained in the Bolgheri area, which was now in absolute ascent.

Having found the perfect area, they start their project.

Mediterrà from the Poggio al Tesoro winery is an intriguing and pleasant red wine , which offers a simple and immediate drink. It has an intense ruby red colour. The nose opens with pleasant fruity aromas of blackberry, plum and cherry, enriched with spicy notes of pepper. On the palate it is rich and complex.

Vinification and Aging

It is mainly produced with Syrah grapes and partly with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes , harvested only by hand in the first ten days of September and selected with the help of a sorting belt. After the soft pressing of the grapes , the fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 26-28°C for about 12 days. This is followed by the malolactic fermentation and an 8-month refinement in second passage barriques.

Territory

Poggio al Tesoro, historic farm in Valpolicella Veneto , created in 2001 by the Allegrini family is today a thriving estate of 70 hectares, 60 of which are vineyards, located in the main wine area of Bolgheri , in the Livorno Maremma.

Soil

The company is spread over four plots: three in Bolgheri and one in the municipality of Bibbona. Different variety of soils, dry, sunny and windy climate.
