Description

Gaia & Rey by Gaja is a white wine of great elegance and softness made from 100% Chardonnay grapes , a paradigmatic excellence of Langhe whites. A wine dedicated to Gaia and Clotilde Rey , Angelo Gaja's daughter and grandmother respectively.

This label is characterized by excellent freshness , where the sip excites with elegance and refinement, bringing us back to the feminine soul to which this grandiose white is dedicated . On the nose it is a riot of aromas , with notes that move from fruit to flowers, with a hint also of sweet spices. In the mouth you can immediately perceive the excellent structure, delicate but with a sip in which freshness and flavor contribute to making the drink extremely smooth , all closed with a truly noteworthy persistence.

Why you should drink it

First of all, this is a Gaja wine and on which Angelo has dedicated a lot of attention, precisely because of the family dedication. But then this is a label with which the winery confirms that it is also a point of reference for the production of superb white wines .

Worth trying to discover a white wine different from all the others.

When to uncork it

A perfect wine to drink immediately, but can grow well in the cellar. For a perfect pairing I recommend you accompany white meats or fish-based dishes, even with red sauces.

If you want to try something more delicious then Gaia & Rey is fantastic with vegetable risottos , for example an artichoke risotto.

How to drink it

Uncork the bottle and let it 'breathe' for 15-30 minutes , serve it chilled at a temperature of 10-12°C.

Vinification and refinement

The grapes, after having been carefully selected during the harvest, are fermented in barriques . Then we move on to the refinement phase, carried out first for 12 months in barrique and, after bottling, for another 6 months directly in the bottle .

Territory

The Chardonnay vineyards are cultivated in the hilly area of the Langhe , in the municipality of Barbaresco. It is precisely in this context of rolling hills and breathtaking views that the Gaja estate, founded in 1859, stands.

Soil

The soil is marly and calcareous , with clay infiltrations, medium compact.
